The Path To 7 Figures As A Marketer
The path to 7 figures as a marketer can be a hard one, not impossible but hard.
It requires a lot of moving parts a lot of self belief and overall the right strategy. Today I’ll be focusing on, what I believe, is a cornerstone element of reaching 7 figures as a marketer.
Building a virtual team. Notice I said virtual, not in house. There are a TON of benefits in going virtual rather than in house from cost to quality to speed but I’ll cover that in another post.
A first step in moving towards 7 figures as a marketer is to realise that you can’t go at it alone, at least without working yourself to the grave. At which point, was it even worth it?
If you’re a digital marketer who is in the space of delivering client services then it would almost be impossible to scale to the 7 figure mark without having a team behind you.
It sounds like common sense but when you speak to many ambitious marketers who want to reach the 7 figure mark, you’ll notice that their business and their clients are totally dependent and are always asking for them, the guy, the brand, the wizard.
Realise you cannot go at it alone and you need to start acting like a 7 figure marketer with a team before you’re ever close to that 7 figure target.
Why do you think some multimillion dollar McDonalds Locations can be ran by 14 year old’s? The answer is systems and processes. The answer is that McDonalds makes sure that every franchise is a machine. A machine that whenever someone steps into the machine they can produce predictable results for their customers again and again regardless of who is working on shift that day.
This is how you need to think about your business, as a machine, not as a glorified freelancer who is bogged down with client requests and client fires.
A lean mean client serving machine.
This requires you to begin documenting and mapping your processes and how you get clients their desired results. The good thing is that this is much easier than you think, you can learn more about that here.
Once you have the machine built with all the processes and systems it’s time to put people behind the controls and see if they’re able to produce and predicable result again and again.
Building your business like a machine means that the business, is dependent on the processes and the systems NOT the people.
This allows you to higher cheaper without sacrificing quality of work because the machine, when the right buttons are pushed, always delivers the clients desired results regardless of who is running the process.
Sounds like a pipe dream? I’m living proof that it’s not.
Finally, realise that you need to become the rainmaker and not the admin.
At some point in every marketer’s career they need to stop working in the business and start working on it, and keep working on it.
This means creating new promotions to acquire new clients. Working on better client strategies to plug into your machine. And of course, designing the vison for the business and your lifestyle that goes along with it.
The longer you spend answering client text messages at 11pm. The longer you spend responding to every single email yourself because its good “customer service”. The longer you spend just working on those small client requests and edits yourself, the longer you are making the road to 7 figures for yourself.
The only way to become the rainmaker is to build a virtual team that runs the show and produces consistent results for your clients by using the machine that you’ve built.
