Stuttering Highschool Dropout & Serial Entrepreneur

Origins Story:

I began my entrepreneurial journey at the age of 16 when I dropped out of high school due to avoiding every speaking situation possible in the attempt to hide my stutter.

I planned for a life of ‘never speaking’ again and decided to professionally hide behind a computer for the rest of my life by studying a 3-year degree in IT and Multimedia. After I finished my 3 years at college, I quickly discovered that every employer needed someone who could speak to clients, handle help desk, manage the front of the office, and so on.

In other words, my plans for ‘professionally’ not speaking again were foiled. I could not work in the IT sector after all, and I refused to let anyone know that I stuttered.

Here I was, fresh out of college without the ability to speak, and I had to find a way to generate an income without using my voice – and that created a turning point in 2008.

I began to read, study, learn, and practice everything I could around generating clients, who needed my skill-set – online without using my voice. Thus, the dive into Internet marketing began.

I studied email marketing, PPC, conversion tactics, copywriting, social media, the psychology of marketing, and much more.

Some people enter an industry because they enjoy it; others enter an industry because it pays well. I feel like I had to go into online marketing because of my speech – I had no other choice.

I quickly found my footing in generating clients for myself, which led to the launch of my web design agency in early 2009. Then, towards the end of 2009, I was inspired to launch a fashion label (I sold this brand a few years later) , which was successfully stocked in retail outlets.

In 2013, I began generating attention for my newfound momentum and started to share what I learned about marketing, business growth, and entrepreneurship with the masses.

I ran multiple sold-out marketing events across Australia, created and hosted over 6 online programs that went on to shape a new breed of marketing-strong entrepreneurs and business owners, and was even featured in countless interview and front-cover media outlets for my story and philosophy on marketing. Since then, I’ve helped to generate customers online across 150+ industries and have personally worked 1-on-1 with over 180 brands, spanning startups to multimillion-dollar global companies and even ARIA Award-winning celebrities.

Newfound empires:

In early 2015, I decided to move away from the “one-man band” model and build my next project around generating customers online for my clients while building a team to implement and scale the success stories. My business quickly grew from a one-man-band show to a virtual team of 3 and then 7 and now it is well above 17 team members — all operating from a single team portal.

With my business expanding every quarter, I was able to look at new creative endeavors. I had always been fascinated with software companies and was inspired to build my own when I saw an opportunity in the market. After 11 months of research and development, I decided to build another team around my software service. Creating a software company allowed me to further develop my skills in building virtual teams and systems that allow me to run my businesses and brands from afar while still delivering predictable results for our clients and customers.

As if that was not enough, I decided to build my third marketing agency with a select focus in Instagram Campaign Growth for our clients. As with all my previous companies, I engineered the production-line concept and built the offering to suit the market’s needs. Following that, I built and scaled the company with a small virtual team of 3 that ran independently of my other businesses. After only 36 months of operating that marketing agency, I sold it to another agency for a fantastic beneficial deal.
